files, etc.
-
IIS Metabase information
-
File and folder security settings
-
Additional stream information stored on files, such as Macintosh files on Windows
file servers
Need to backup a Windows Server? Purchase one or more of the Backup for Workgroups Add-On
products to expand support for Windows Servers by including the
important databases for running services such as Active Directory, Exchange Server,
MS-SQL, etc. in the backup process.
Configuration Options
-
Backup set customization - create backup sets for different groups of data.
-
Custom Email Reports and Daily Summary Reports keep you informed
of what has been backed up and when. Great for multi-client installations.
-
File Revision History
- every time a file changes, Backup for Workgroups will store a revision of that
file in the Data Repository. The default limit is set at 25, but you can adjust
this number to be as large or small as you need. When it comes time to restore
a file, you can choose from any date or time.
-
Stop/Start Services Feature - many applications lock their data
when running as a service. You can backup the data associated with these applications
only when they are not running. To do so, you can instruct the Client on that
computer to use the "Stop Selected Services" feature to stop selected services while
the backup is running. Any service stopped by Backup for Workgroups will be
automatically restarted after the backup completes.
If you don't want to stop a service, use an Add-On product
to backup the files associated with any service while they are in use.
-
Automatically Close/Open Outlook and Outlook Express to properly backup the Outlook
database on any Windows desktop or workstation.
Flexible Scheduling
Backup for Workgroups comes with a built-in Scheduler program that automatically
runs backups according to a schedule you define by day and time. The default
setting for any backup set is "Monday - Friday at 12:00 noon", but you can change
it to any other time that best fits your schedule.
You can also have different schedules for each backup set you create. Backup
your entire computer with the "All Local Drives" backup set every day at 5 pm.
For data that changes more frequently, include it in its own backup set and schedule
it for automatic backups every 2 hours. The choice is yours.
Scheduling options available are:
-
Separate scheduling for each backup set you create
-
Multiple backup times can be scheduled for any backup set
-
Backups can be scheduled when the computer is turned on or off, or when a connection
to the Internet is detected (great for remote backups)
You can also run a backup on demand using the "Backup Now" button located on the
Client backup panel, or by using the Backup for Workgroups Client icon from the
system tray (right-click and choose "Backup Now").
